No unrest among MAZ workers

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ continues working as usual, BelTA learned from Valery Ivankovich, Director General of OAO MAZ, the managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ, on 11 August.

The executive said: “MAZ is working very intensively. The bus manufacturing division operates in three shifts. We have a lot of orders from customers, particularly export (Russia, Ukraine). The assembly line operates in two shifts, there is no unrest among the workforce. We are working as usual, in normal mode.”

Ivan Gurin, a foreman in vehicle assembly shop No.4, stressed that the assembly line and the assembly division operated without interruptions on 11 August. “We are working calmly, without incidents. There are no differences of opinion in the collective. The management supports us and motivates us,” he assured.

The director general added that the management of the company and the trade unions regularly meet with the workers. One of the meetings took place today. Valery Ivankovich and MAZ workers had a sincere discussion about the current situation. “Every worker understands that the future of their families, their kids is in good work. We support a stable Belarus, a normal working life. The social situation in the collective is stable,” he stated.

The meeting with the collective also touched upon the company's performance in H1 2020. In January-June 2020 MAZ assembled about 5,300 vehicles and exported about $170 million worth of merchandise. The average salary amounted to Br1,200 in the first half of the year.
