MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will join efforts to improve logistics, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Governor Gleb Nikitin said following his meeting with Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.

According to him, there are plans to improve logistics of passenger and cargo transportation. “We discussed not only air travel, but also rail travel. As for cargo, given the change in cargo flows after the announcement of sanctions, we need to switch to Asian markets. We propose joint projects in this area, we will work on this separately,” Gleb Nikitin said.

Tourism was also on the agenda. On 2 March Nordwind Airlines will launch direct regular flights between Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk. “I sincerely recommend that all Nizhny Novgorod residents visit Minsk. We invite Belarusians to see Nizhny Novgorod, this is a unique city,” added Gleb Nikitin.

Cooperation in the manufacturing industry and the agricultural sector is viewed as very important. “Now we are discussing both small-scale mechanization tools and agricultural products. Roman Aleksandrovich [Golovchenko] suggested hosting a delegation of Belarusian machine tool makers. And I know that Belarus has great machine tool manufacturers. We are going to need a lot of tools and equipment, and we can surely implement more projects. We will continue working on agricultural machinery,” the governor said.
