Next year's natural gas prices for Belarus expected on par with this year's

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Natural gas prices for Belarus should not exceed this year's prices. Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich made the relevant statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich noted: “Considering the progress we've secured so far, natural gas prices for Belarus should not exceed this year's. There are tools that allow bringing views closer to each other to enable equal-income prices, particularly gas transportation tariffs, that is, transportation of natural gas across the Russian Federation territory towards Belarus.”

In his words, there are a number of approaches to resolving the problem within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and within the framework of bilateral relations. The official noted that all participants of the gas market are interested in getting the problem resolved.

“An international agreement on the common natural gas market is the basic document, which is being worked on right now. We would like this document to give answers to all these complicated questions. We would like an understandable system of mutual relations,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

In line with the program on setting up the common market of natural gas, the draft agreement will be ready in 2021 so that the countries could make the transition to trade based on the relevant principles as from 1 January 2025.
