Natural gas transit via Belarus 3% up in 2018

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – The volume of natural gas pumped via Belarus in transit in 2018 increased in comparison with 2017 to reach 42.3 billion m3, BelTA learned from OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus Director General Vladimir Mayorov on 22 March.

Vladimir Mayorov said that Belarusian customers received 20.33 billion m3 of natural gas in 2018. He remarked that natural gas delivery to Belarus increased in 2018. “The volume of natural gas rose by more than one billion cubic meters due to the growth of the national economy,” Vladimir Mayorov added.

In 2018 Gazprom's daughter enterprise's underground gas storage facility set a new performance record.

OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is a daughter enterprise of PAO Gazprom. The enterprise operates a vast gas transportation system in Belarus, including over 7,900km of gas pipelines, 13 compressor stations, 226 gas distribution plants, seven gas metering stations, and 28 NGV refueling compressor stations. The system also includes three underground gas storage facilities: Osipovichskoye and Pribugskoye, which use water-bearing structures, and Mozyrskoye, which uses rock salt deposits. OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus operates the Gazprom-owned Belarusian section of the transcontinental gas pipeline Yamal-Europe. The linear section of the gas pipeline is 575km long and includes five compressor stations.
