Mogilev-based BelEmsa to ramp up face mask production

POLYKOVICHI, 22 May (BelTA) – The BelEmsa company intends to set up a production line to make single-use face masks. The required equipment will be delivered to Mogilev in the near future, BelEmsa Deputy Director Osman Ucar told BelTA.

“Our enterprise specializes in production of diapers for children and adults and wet wipes. We have re-equipped three production lines to make face masks. The output is around 1.5 million masks a day. But the demand for diapers has not declined and it is inconvenient to re-purpose production this often,” Osman Ucar noted. “This is why we have decided to purchase the most cutting-edge equipment to produce disposable face masks. This will enable us to start mass production and expand the output to 3 million face masks a day,” he added.

The new line will be a full-cycle production line and will be fully automated. Osman Ucar noted that there are only three such machines in the world: two operate in China and the third will be set up in Mogilev. “This is the most advanced equipment that will enable us to manufacture a high-quality and necessary product. Our expected output will be enough to satisfy the domestic demand, the rest will be bound for export,” he said.

A total of $1.5 million was invested in the project.

BelEmsa was registered with the free economic zone Mogilev in 2011. It was founded by the Turkish company UCAR GROUP. BelEmsa exports 70% of its output to 18 countries.
