Minsk Oblast signs cooperation agreement with Vladimir Oblast of Russia

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Russia's Vladimir Oblast, BelTA has learned.

The two regions have a high potential for cooperation, Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin said at the signing ceremony. Opportunities are ample in terms of trade and joint projects. "We have a lot to learn from each other. In particular, we are interested in your experience in the development of agriculture," Aleksandr Turchin emphasized.

In turn, Governor of Russia's Vladimir Oblast Alexander Avdeev drew attention to the practical component of the visit to Belarus. Contracts have already been signed with Belarusian enterprises. The possibility of exchanging business delegations, cooperation in culture is being discussed. He invited the governor of Minsk Oblast to visit the region for the Suzdal millennium celebrations.

"We have a lot to discuss. If we talk about the economies of Belarus and Vladimir Oblast, the structure is similar: it is both the manufacturing sector and agriculture," Alexander Avdeev said.

According to him, today's meeting will help the parties to find common ground, to network enterprises for joint work. "Now we have signed a framework agreement, and in the future we will pay more attention to business missions to facilitate contacts between our businesses," Alexander Avdeev added.

Aleksandr Turchin thanked the head of the Russian delegation for finding the time in his packed program of Belarus' visit to meet with him. “When the heads of the regions are determined to work seriously, this gives a serious impetus to bilateral cooperation. In the face of sanctions, new opportunities are opening up, and we have taken a fresh look at each other. When we understand that, by and large, there is no one to count on, we rely on ourselves. Even despite the impressive growth in trade last year and this year, we still see enough reserves to move forward," the governor said.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the manufacturing sector, agriculture, construction, culture and other sectors. The parties discussed ways of strengthening trade, economic, scientific, social and humanitarian cooperation. For Vladimir Oblast, Belarus is one of the key partners.
