MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast is ready for cooperation with Vietnam's Hung Yen Province in various areas. Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Denis Kurlenko made the statement as he met with First Deputy Chairman of the Hung Yen Province People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung, BelTA has learned.
According to Denis Kurlenko, Minsk Oblast is a miniature Belarus where manufacturing sector and agriculture are well-developed and where cars and trucks as well as a broad range of foodstuffs are made.
Denis Kurlenko said: “We are ready for more fruitful cooperation with Vietnam and with your province. We have something to work on not only in merchandise export but also import. I think we should improve performance indicators this year.”
Apart from joint work in economy Minsk Oblast would like to establish tighter ties in humanitarian affairs: healthcare, education, and tourism. “Your residents may be interested in visiting Belarus while ours may be interested in visiting your country. It is necessary to bolster friendship and visits with practical results. We have something to offer to each other,” the official believes.
Denis Kurlenko said he hopes that contacts would continue. Presentation materials will be prepared for the guests and assistance will be provided in every matter. “We admire the pace of your country's advance towards a high-tech state. It is impressive,” the deputy head of the Minsk Oblast administration said.
In turn, Nguyen Duy Hung was grateful for the opportunity to have this meeting and remarked he sees a great potential in the advancement of relations. In his words, Hung Yen Province is interested in partnership in agriculture and manufacturing sector. Two joint projects are being implemented: production of MAZ trucks and shipments of dairy products.
“We will step up efforts as part of the dairy products project. We've come to enhance cooperation and accomplish concrete tasks,” the head of the Vietnamese delegation noted.
During the meeting the sides also shared the best practices of raising investments and running free economic zones. The development of an agreement on cooperation between the regions was suggested.
The Vietnamese delegation includes representatives of the departments in charge of finance, science and technologies, planning and investments, foreign relations, public security, representatives of MAZ Asia Company and Kim Dong District.
Hung Yen Province boasts well-developed agriculture and specializes in growing rice, saffron, and tropical fruits. Active development of infrastructure is in progress in the province. The province is home to over 1 million people and has a high demand for meat and dairy products, baby food, products made by pharmaceutical, chemical, and mechanical engineering industries.
In 2022 export by Minsk Oblast enterprises to Vietnam exceeded $2.2 million, 10.7% up from 2021. Export totaled $214,400 in Q1 2023. Powdered milk products represented the bulk of the export.
In a bid to increase export, the milk-processing enterprises Slutsk Cheese-Making Plant and Minsk Dairy Plant No.1 of the holding company Minoblmyasomolprom regularly take part in the international Vietnam Expo in Hanoi. Minsk Dairy Plant No.1 cooperates with the company Au Viet Food Import in selling products of its own make.
