Minsk Oblast governor, Palestinian ambassador discuss cooperation

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) - Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Belarus Ahmed Mohammed al-Madbuh in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The parties discussed the development of cooperation between Minsk Oblast and Palestine. According to the Minsk regional administration, the region exports bread and confectionery to Palestine and imports medicines.

“Palestine and Minsk Oblast have been cooperating for many years. If we talk about specific areas, these are medicines and agriculture. Nevertheless, we intend to expand our cooperation both in agriculture and mechanical engineering. The potential for the development of relations is great, and we are working to tap it,” Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed al-Madbuh said. He added that more than 100 students from Palestine study in universities in Minsk Oblast, and their number grows every year.

Plans are in place to organize the Days of Palestinian Culture in Belarus next year, the ambassador noted. "If there is an opportunity, we would like to host the Days of Culture of Belarus in Palestine. However we do not have a Belarusian embassy, and this is one of the tasks that we would like to solve," Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed al-Madbuh emphasized.
