"Belarus has finished planting early spring crops, in particular cereals, legumes and sugar beets. The planting of fiber flax and spring rapeseed will be over literally in a few days. As for other crops, the deadline is 20 May. Technically, four regions will cope with this task. We may need to extends the deadlines by 1-2 days for Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast, but technically they are also ready to complete all fieldworks on time. Now the regions need to work harder to fulfill this order. This is especially true for vegetables, corn for grain and silage, buckwheat, millet and potatoes," Igor Brylo said.
According to him, the areas under corn will be increased by about 1,000 hectares over last year's. "Basically, it will be used as silage, because we need to provide grassy fodder for our livestock," the minister noted.
