MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarus views Pakistan as an important political, trade and economic partner in South Asia, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said as he met with Pakistan's Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan, BelTA has learned.
“Minsk highly values the current level of Belarus-Pakistan relations. It is important that our interaction is based on mutual respect and trust, which creates the basis for the effective development of trade and investment partnerships,” Viktor Karankevich emphasized.
At the same time, the bilateral trade lags behind the potential of Belarus-Pakistan relations.
“We hope that during your visit we will be able to discuss specific steps to intensify our partnership,” the minister added.
He expressed confidence that the sixth meeting of the Belarus-Pakistan commission on trade and economic cooperation, which is due in Minsk on 12 January, will give a new impetus to the bilateral relations in the areas of mutual interest.
