MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia will take measures to protect the Union State market, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
According to him, Belarus has prepared a list of measures to protect the Union State market due to the fact that there are parallel imports and dumping by third countries. “Russia is now carefully studying the list. Our countries are members of the Eurasian Economic Union and they have to comply with the common legislation. Therefore, in the first place we suggest non-tariff regulation measures, but they must be effective and create objective competition in our market,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
He explained why such measures were necessary. “There are logistical, financial issues. Now our companies are under sanctions, they are forced to look for components all over the world. The end product economy is complicated today. If there are dumping mechanisms in the sales segment, we will not be able to sell. At the EEC level, given that they have full authority to conduct anti-dumping investigations, we have agreed that we will provide examples on specific segments of industrial products in the first place,” the ambassador said.
“It is not just our classic farm machinery or passenger vehicles. These are household appliances as well. We see that our manufacturers of refrigerators are now in a very tough competition because of the parallel imports and incomprehensible pricing policy [of manufacturers from third countries]. This should not be the case. Given the conditions and the nature of relations that have developed between Russia and Belarus, we have to promptly remove these issues,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
