MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ maintains the leadership position in the Ukrainian truck market, BelTA learned from the company's website.
Sales of trucks with a total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes surged in the Ukrainian market in March. Thus, according to AUTO-Consulting, almost 500 new trucks were delivered to customers in March, which was 174% more than last year. In January-March, truck sales skyrocketed by 86%.
With a fourfold increase in sales and the market share at 18.3%, MAZ retained its leadership position in the Ukrainian market in March. "In January-March, MAZ was the undisputed leader with sales almost three times as much as the closest competitor," the company explains.
The drivers of the current sales were large-scale purchases of vehicles ahead of the upcoming road construction season. "Now large companies are actively upgrading their fleets switching to new, more advanced vehicles. Demand from the oil and gas sector and fuel retailers has also bounced back. Farmers have also started purchasing vehicles," MAZ said.
MAZ is one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies. It specializes in making heavy-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and trailing units. MAZ is a well-known international brand. MAZ vehicles are compliant with the environmental standards Euro-5 and Euro-6. The company makes a total of over 500 models and modifications of tractor units, dropside trucks, and chassis for mounting various kinds of equipment.
