
MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - Belarus is working to improve the financial literacy of the population, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Pavel Kallaur said at a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
“In 2022, systematic activities were run at the government level to improve the financial literacy of the population. In particular, the efforts of the National Bank in this area were focused on organizing nationwide mass events to improve financial literacy of young people, developing educational and methodological packages to conduct classes on financial literacy as part of the teaching and learning process, and also on advisory assistance to the Education Ministry in updating educational standards and curricula to boost financial literacy of students,” Pavel Kallaur said.
According to him, special attention was paid to improving personal competencies of citizens in digital financial technologies and the basics of cybersecurity. “Last year, at the request of the National Bank the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus conducted a study to assess the level of people's financial literacy. The study proved the effectiveness of the work in the area,” the chairman of the central bank said.
