Italian industrial district project in the home stretch at FEZ Brest

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – The development of the Italian industrial district is nearing completion in the free economic zone Brest, BelTA learned from the FEZ administration.

This promising investment site is located in the Airport industrial zone, 3 km east of Brest, next to the M1/E30 highway. It covers 26 hectares, of which 20 hectares are meant for the construction of production facilities for the FEZ resident companies. The development of the site has been going on for several years, and now the project is entering its final stage.

The work is carried out by Brestvodstroy. A 5 MW transformer substation and a sewage pumping station have already been built there. Work is now underway on a road network, a water supply system and storm sewers.

The construction of engineering and transport communications is financed by the free economic zone development fund. This year there are plans to allocate Br1.7 million for these purposes; Br925,000 was spent in 2019. The facility is set to be commissioned in 2021.

The entire territory of the Airport industrial zone occupies more than 1,200 hectares. A significant part of the site has already been provided with the necessary engineering infrastructure, including energy, gas and water supply, sewerage, telephones. This allowed the resident companies of the FEZ to locate 10 facilities there. Two more are under construction.

Belarus' first free economic zone, FEZ Brest, will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021. Today it covers 10,700 hectares of economic space and offers certain benefits and preferences for Belarusian and foreign investors. FEZ Brest has 75 resident companies from 20 countries.
