MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – The vigorous assimilation of information technologies in the sphere of customs will allow increasing Belarus' foreign trade. The statement was made by Yuri Korol, Director General of the state enterprise Beltamozhservice, on the sidelines of the business forum held on 6 December to discuss logistics, BelTA has learned.
The official said that the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) welcomes such novelties as the introduction of information technologies and digital declarations. The document also provides for mandatory advance information sharing. Such novelties will increase the trade turnover and will reduce the time spent on crossing the border.
Yuri Korol stated that the number of vehicles that go through Belarus increases every year. “Today our country boasts well-developed logistics infrastructure and qualified personnel. Public private partnership between transport operators and logistics companies is about to reach a new level. I think the effect the enforcement of the EAEU Customs Code will bring will result in the taxes and money Belarus will earn from transit traffic,” said Yuri Korol.
The business forum on logistics was organized by Beltamozhservice. The event is particularly important in anticipation of the enforcement of the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union. Participants of the forum are expected to discuss transporting merchandise across the border from the point of view of the Belarusian business community and the business communities of the neighboring countries. Taking part in the forum are representatives of the Belarusian customs service, heads and leading specialists in the sphere of logistics representing transport administrations and companies from the neighboring countries.More about Economy
