MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – For Hungary Belarus is a reliable transit partner in oil deliveries via the Druzhba pipeline. Hungary expects these deliveries to continue safely and without interruptions in the future. Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto mentioned it after a session of the Belarus-Hungary intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Budapest on 12 April, BelTA has learned.
Peter Szijjarto said: “Energy supply is a matter of exceptional importance for Hungary. International Atomic Energy Agency experts are saying more and more that the next winter period for Europe will entail even greater challenges than the period we've already gone through. We have to talk about the safety of energy supply of Hungary. From this point of view Belarus is a very important country. Because Hungary gets 80% of oil via the Druzhba pipeline that crosses Belarus' territory. So far Belarus has been a reliable and amiable transit partner of Hungary. Belarus guaranteed uninterrupted oil deliveries via the country to Hungary. And today the minister promised to me that we can count on safe and uninterrupted deliveries in the future. And I offered my gratitude for that.”
