Grodnoinvest, Eskisehir Chamber of Industry sign cooperation agreement

GRODNO, 15 October (BelTA) – The administration of the Grodnoinvest free economic zone and the Eskisehir Chamber of Industry (Turkey) have signed a cooperation agreement with a view to facilitating investment activities, BelTA learned from the administration of the free economic zone.

Grodno hosted the Belarus-Turkey regional forum attended by a delegation of the city of Eskisehir. The Turkish delegation saw the presentation of a project to set up an industrial park for Turkish investment and cooperation opportunities with resident companies of Grodnonivest. The parties also discussed Belarus-Turkey regional business relations and outlined mutual interests in economy.

A cooperation agreement between the administration of the Grodnoinvest free economic zone and the Eskisehir Chamber of Industry was signed following the plenary session of the forum. The agreement seeks to pave the way for mutual investments, trade and economic contacts, cooperation in tourism and information sharing.

“During the forum, we held a business matchmaking session for more than 50 Belarusian and Turkish companies working in mechanical engineering, auto components, chemical, textile and food industries, and furniture," the FEZ administration said.

Organizers of the forum were the FEZ Grodnoinvest together with the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey, Grodno City Hall and Grodno Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Europlasteks Invest with Turkish capital successfully operates in the FEZ Grodnoinvest. It is implementing a project to set up a vertically integrated complex to manufacture cotton yarn and products from it.

The interest in mutual cooperation is reflected in trade figures. In 2018, the trade between Grodnoinvest resident companies and Turkey exceeded $10 million, up 2.7 times over 2017. Belarusian companies supply chemical products, furniture and wood products to Turkey. Products from plastics, cotton, knitwear, metal structures, machinery and equipment are delivered from Turkey to Belarus.
