
MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Harvesting of grass fodder has begun in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 22 May, first grass was cut on the area of 45,500 hectares, which is 3.42% of the plan. Belarus harvested 0.480 tonnes of hay (0.05%), 150,400 tonnes of haylage (1.10%) and 106,900 tonnes of silage (0.56%). There are plans to harvest 9.6 million tonnes of grass fodder this year; at the moment 0.65% of the plan has been harvested.
Overseeding of perennial grasses was done on the area of 231,600 hectares (71.7% of the plan).
All in all, Belarus plans to accumulate more than 1.2 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (in the active substance) for spring sowing. By now, 913,100 tonnes (75.2% of the plan) were accumulated.
