MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Mass harvesting of grain and leguminous crops (except for maize) is coming to a close in Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast and Minsk Oblast, BelTA learned from the updates posted by the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 20 August, grain and leguminous crops were harvested on the area of 1.972 million hectares, or 89.9% of the plan. Brest Oblast has taken the lead fulfilling 98.1% of the harvesting plan (333,700 hectares). Grodno Oblast cropped 97.5% (314,600 hectares), Gomel Oblast harvested 95.8% of the area (327,200 hectares), Minsk Oblast harvested 95% (465,100 hectares), Mogilev Oblast gathered 79.2% (263,200 hectares), Vitebsk Oblast harvested 73.1% (268,400 hectares).
All in all, 7.375 million tonnes of grain was threshed across the country with the average yield at 37.4 centners per hectare (in 2019, the yield as of the same date was 31.5 centners per hectare). Minsk Oblast harvested more than 1.8 million tonnes of grain, Grodno Oblast more than 1.5 million tonnes, Brest Oblast over 1.3 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast over 900,000 tonnes, Vitebsk and Gomel Oblast over 800,000 tonnes.
Flax was harvested on the area of 43,900 hectares (90.2% of the area under this crop).
Some 761,200 tonnes of hay (75.4% of the plan), 12.662 million tonnes of haylage (100.5%) and 712,500 tonnes of silage (3.72%) were stocked. In total, there are plans to procure 9.3 million tonnes of fodder units of grass feed, most of them in Minsk Oblast and Brest Oblast. By this time, 43.9% of the plan has been fulfilled.
