GOMEL, 27 April (BelTA) – In January-February 2021, enterprises of Gomel Oblast exported $745 million worth of products, which was up by almost $200 million year-on-year, Gomel Oblast Vice Governor Andrei Konyushko said during a meeting of the administration of Gomel Oblast on 27 April, BelTA has learned.
“In Q1, export went up by 35% and we do not expect export to drop in Q2. We should continue increasing output and export,” Andrei Konyushko stressed.
Speaking about export diversification, Andrei Konyushko pointed out that the task is to increase presence in the markets of distant countries without losing positions in traditional markets. “In January-February, the European Union accounted for 39% of the total export of Gomel Oblast enterprises, the EAEU – for 33%, and distant countries – for 21%,” he said.
In January-February, export to China amounted to $20 million, which was more than last year. “We should continue boosting supplies to China as well,” Andrei Konyushko noted.
According to him, the situation with services export was more challenging. In January-February 2021, Gomel Oblast reported a decline in export of all types of services. “We expect to boost export of all services in Q2, including construction services, we have already concluded relevant agreements with Russia's Bryansk Oblast. Car services export is also projected to grow. We expect the market for tourist and other services to revive as well,” Andrei Konyushko added.
