German investments open furniture factory in Brest Oblast

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – A new furniture factory has been opened by a German investor in Ivatsevichi, Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.

The German company Polipol Productions Verwaltungs GmbH rents premises from the local woodworking company OAO Ivatsevichdrev. The German company opened the first shop to make sofas the other day. The furniture is made by Belarusian specialists, who have been trained at the German company's factories in Poland. The enterprise intends to make about 1,000 sofas by March 2019. The furniture will be exported to Europe.

BelTA reported earlier that the German company Polipol Productions Verwaltungs GmbH and the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom have signed an investment contract on setting up a new enterprise to make soft furniture in Belarus.

The German company intends to build a factory able to make 8,500 sofas by 2020 and about 27,000 units of soft furniture by 2027. The new factory will occupy 50,000m2 and will employ at least 1,200 people. The investments are expected to total €20 million.
