Finance Ministry expects Belarus' credit ratings to stay unchanged in 2020

MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – The Finance Ministry expects that international rating agencies will keep Belarus' credit ratings the same in 2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Finance Minister Andrei Belkovets on 5 August.

The official said: “Regular reviews will be released in autumn – in October-November. There are no prerequisites for lower ratings so far. It is unlikely Belarus' ratings will be raised. I think the ratings will remain the same. It will quite suit us for now.”

The Finance Ministry is also going to try and prevent negative outlooks.

In April the rating agency Standard & Poor's affirmed its “B/B” long- and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Belarus (a stable outlook). In May the rating agency Fitch also affirmed Belarus' sovereign credit ratings at “B” with a stable outlook.
