Final decision made on government procurement contracts in EAEU

MOSCOW, 4 December (BelTA) – A final and fundamental decision on equal access to government purchases in the Eurasian Economic Union was made at the videoconference session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 4 December, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich after the session.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “As for regulations on government purchases. As you are aware, the problem has lacked a desirable solution for quite some time. Today fundamental and final decisions have been made to regulate access of goods of all the EAEU member states to central government procurement contracts and municipal government ones. It is no doubt a good step that many manufacturers and the business community had been looking forward to.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich mentioned Russia's rather constructive position. The country has the largest market. “In his speech Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin once again underscored the interest in opening the Russian market of government procurement contracts to other countries, provided naturally the relevant conditions are met,” the chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission said. Mikhail Myasnikovich explained that the prime ministers had approved the procedure for access to government procurement contracts and a list of goods that includes all the main types of products. “It is a serious step towards reinforcing our integration when the sides hear and understand each other and additionally open markets to goods from partner countries,” he concluded.
