Export by Belarusian confectionery Kommunarka 6% up in January-September

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian confectionery Kommunarka increased export by 6% in January-September 2020, BelTA learned from the company's Director General Ivan Danchenko during the 30th international agriculture expo Belagro 2020.

In his words, the company has survived the pandemic with flying colors. In January-September the company increased output by 3.2%, sales by 4%, export by 6%, and salaries by 14%. The company is also taking care of investment projects. “We are fully ready for the New Year campaign. So, we have to work and find new target markets. Certainly, Russia is the largest market for us, with its share close to 75% today. We are represented in all the federal districts and virtually all the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. A company of ours will start working in Moscow on 1 October. Our export to Russia stands at RUB1.8 billion,” Ivan Danchenko said.

Kommunarka is actively working to explore the Chinese market, with export to China up by 50% in January-September despite the pandemic. “The figure could have been larger were it not for COVID-19. By the way, we've made milk chocolate with caramel and nuts specifically for the Chinese market,” he added.

A council of directors of the confectionery industry was established in Belarus some time ago. Director General of SP OAO Spartak Oleg Zhidkov was elected its chairman. The council also includes directors of Kommunarka, Slodych, Krasny Pischevik, Konfa, and Mozyrsalt. Among other things the council will help penetrate new target markets and develop the confectionery industry. “It will allow bolstering the competitive ability of Belarusian confectionery companies. We will work out consolidated approaches on the home market and a unified commercial policy. Technical regulations, standards, uniformity with our competitors in the Eurasian Economic Union are also on the agenda,” Ivan Danchenko said.
