MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The plans to increase the role of the Foreign Investment Council will help improve the quality of the dialogue with business, Director General of Coca Cola Beverages Belorussiya Aleksandr Denisov said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV channel on 20 October, BelTA has learned.
Belarus is working on the draft decree “On the Foreign Investment Council”. It has been published on the National Legal Portal and provides for raising the status and effectiveness of the council. “This is the right decision in terms of speeding up decision-making and improving the quality of the dialogue,” said Aleksandr Denisov.
This year he became a member of the Business Promotion Council. The businessman sees great potential in its interaction with the Foreign Investment Council. “There are issues that affect both foreign investors and domestic businessmen,” he explained. The council will function as a permanent platform under the president to conduct a direct dialogue with foreign (international) organizations on the development of a favorable investment climate. “In my opinion, a dialogue under the patronage of the leader of the country would be the right decision,” said Aleksandr Denisov.
Head of the office of the International Finance Corporation in Belarus Olga Shcherbina, stated that Belarus is an interesting market for investment. “We look at it very closely, consider many projects and are not afraid to invest in Belarus. However, we understand that it is necessary to have tools, platforms, access to decision makers to discuss the issues that concern the investor,” she said. The expert hailed the Belarusian investment legislation and spoke in favor of continuing to work on its effective implementation.
The Foreign Investment Advisory Council under the Council of Ministers (FIAC) was set up in 2001 to improve the efficiency of foreign investment attraction and investment conditions in Belarus.
