MOSCOW, 12 May (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), following the instruction of the heads of government of the Eurasian Five member states, is working on an electronic commerce agreement in the Eurasian Economic Union, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev told a news briefing in Moscow on 12 May, BelTA has learned.
“We proceed from the fact that the EAEU needs a single market of electronic commerce, and the situation with the site in one country, the buyer - in the second and the seller - in the third would be absolutely normal and would not create any problems for the interaction,” Andrey Slepnev said.
In his words, the agreement will cover issues of taxation, transition to digital accompanying documents, data storage and protection, localization, and standardization. “And, of course, the key thing is to protect the rights of consumers and sellers from all kinds of unfair practices: there is a lot of talk about this topic, and it is also one of the topics that should be regulated by the agreement. We hope that this work will be completed, and we will get a full-fledged market of electronic commerce in the EAEU,” the EEC minister said.
