
SOCHI, 9 June (BelTA) - Eurasia has a huge potential for development, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Nikolai Podguzov said at the plenary session “Eurasia of the Future: from Challenges to Solutions” on 9 June, BelTA has learned.
“Today we are discussing the Eurasia of the Future: from Challenges to Solutions topic. Our region has a huge potential for development. Here are just a few figures: the Eurasian countries participating in today's session account for 31% of the world's reserves of natural gas, 18% of coal, 8% of oil, 34% of uranium, 20% of gold and 11% of arable land,” Nikolai Podguzov said.
He added: “How do we unlock the enormous potential of our region given the global challenges and new trends? It is important to find common ground and suggest ideas that will promote sustainable economic growth for the benefit of all citizens of our countries.”
The plenary session took place on the final day of the Eurasian Congress'23 in Sochi. The speakers at the event were the prime ministers of the countries of the Eurasian region and the Republic of Cuba.
