Contract to supply large batch of MAZ buses to St. Petersburg almost executed

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – The contract to deliver 137 MAZ diesel buses to the St. Petersburg municipal carrier Passazhiravtotrans is almost executed, BelTA learned from the press service of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark).

The vehicles supplied to St. Petersburg as part of the city's bus fleet upgrade program were assessed by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, Deputy Governor in charge of the transportation sector Kirill Polyakov. MAZ Deputy Director General-Commercial Director Sergei Shulyak told the city administration about the advantages of MAZ 203047 buses.

At the meeting, representatives of the municipal authorities, carriers and manufacturers took stock of the year 2022 and discussed plans for 2023, as the efforts to renew the city's passenger transport will continue, which means that new MAZ buses will be sent to St. Petersburg.

This contract was the second major deal concluded in St. Petersburg in 2022. The press service recalled that in order to upgrade the St. Petersburg vehicle fleet as part of the transportation reform, MAZ manufactured and handed over 889 buses running on gas to private carriers that assumed obligations to service the city's transport network.

Minsk Automobile Plant is one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies. It specializes in making heavy-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and trailing units. MAZ vehicles are compliant with the environmental standards Euro-3, 4, 5, and 6. The company makes a total of over 500 models and 3,000 modifications of tractor units, dropside trucks, and chassis for mounting various kinds of equipment.
