CIS Economic Council informed about preliminary results of Belarus' presidency

MOSCOW, 3 December (BelTA) – Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko informed participants of the CIS Economic Council session held in Moscow on 2 December about preliminary results of Belarus' presidency in CIS bodies, the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia told BelTA.

During the session heads of the delegations exchanged opinions about topical matters concerning economic cooperation of the CIS member states. Igor Petrishenko informed participants of the session about preliminary results of Belarus' presidency in CIS bodies and put forward a number of proposals.

Participants of the session heard out a report on progress in reconciling a draft agreement on free trade in services, on establishing, operating, and implementing investments. The CIS governments will be asked to expedite the development of proposals on filling individual lists of commitments of the states parties to the agreement.

Participants of the session heard out a report on the operation of the coordinating council of heads of customs services of the CIS member states in 2016-2020, a report on the implementation of a set of measures meant to develop the production of machines and equipment for the power engineering industry. Progress was reviewed in realizing the concept of cooperation in chemical industry. Participants of the session heard out a report on results of realization of a set of measures designed to develop and encourage the use of natural gas as transport fuel in the period till 2020.

Members of the CIS Economic Council approved quality of life standards, a draft concept of cooperation for the development of viticulture and winemaking and a plan of basic measures for implementing the concept, a draft complex of joint actions to ensure the biological safety of genetic material during the reproduction of farm animals for the period till 2026. They approved the estimated expenses for creating and developing the joint air defense system in 2022 (with a statement by the Republic of Belarus), the estimated non-budgetary revenues and expenses of the CIS Interstate Statistics Committee for 2022. Members of the CIS Economic Council also took note of a number of information and analytical materials prepared by the CIS Executive Committee.

The next session of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled to take place in Moscow on 18 March 2022.
