Chambers of commerce of Belarus, Zimbabwe to sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The chambers of commerce of Belarus and Zimbabwe plan to sign an agreement on cooperation, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich said, BelTA has learned.

“The visit of the Zimbabwean president to Belarus has given a great impetus business. We discussed certain projects. There is some progress. The areas of cooperation are petrochemical industry, agriculture, personnel training, mechanic engineering. The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce plans to go on a business visit to Zimbabwe in late April to sign an agreement with Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce. We have already outlined several new areas for cooperation. Next year, we plan to arrange a national exposition in Harare,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Russia and concurrently to Belarus Mike Nicholas Sango singled out a joint project with Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) to assemble tractors as one of the future projects. He added that Zimbabwe also cooperates with the Belarusian Automobile Engineering Company (BelAZ).

At the request of head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor Sheiman, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organized his meeting with representatives of Belarusian companies and organizations to discuss development of business cooperation with Zimbabwe. The meeting was attended by Vladimir Ulakhovich, Ambassador Mike Nicholas Sango, representatives of Belarusian companies and organizations. The participants were briefed about the promising areas of bilateral cooperation in trade and economy between Belarus and Zimbabwe, possibilities to branch out into the markets of Zimbabwe's neighboring states, and mechanisms to finance export of Belarusian companies.
