Central banks of Belarus, Russia to discuss integration roadmap in late October

MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – The central banks of Belarus and Russia are set to discuss the Union State integration roadmap at the end of October, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Dmitry Kalechits told the media at the international banking information technology forum BankIT on 22 October, BelTA has learned.

“We have already drafted it [the roadmap]; it is being scrutinized by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. We are expected to discuss it at the session of the interbank currency council at the end of the month,” Dmitry Kalechits said.

In his words, the key points of the roadmap deal with the monetary policy, macroprudential regulation, banking supervision and payment systems.

A reminder, the prime ministers of Belarus and Russia approved a draft action program on the Union State integration and a series of roadmaps in early September. Now the parties need to draft 31 roadmaps to implement the program. Sergei Kalechits, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, emphasized that the central banks of Belarus and Russia are in talks on the harmonization of approaches to banking supervision, not their unification.
