Cargo traffic across Belarus-Lithuania border up by 6% in H1

GRODNO, 9 July (BelTA) – Cargo traffic in the Lithuanian direction in the zone of responsibility of the Grodno regional customs increased by 6% in H1 2020, BelTA learned from the regional customs house.

Grodno customs officers cleared more than 320,000 trucks in H1, which was up by 6% year-on-year.

The Lithuanian checkpoint Lavoriskes adjacent with the Belarusian checkpoint Kotlovka suspended the registration of vehicles on 16 March. The truck clearance workload has been then distributed as follows: about 56% of all heavy-duty trucks are cleared at the Kamenny Log checkpoint, more than 25% at Benyakoni and 19% at Privalka.

The customs continues working to improve the border crossing conditions. Kamenny Log, the most popular checkpoint in the Lithuanian direction, is up for renovations,” the Grodno Regional Customs informed. The renovations project is expected to get underway in September 2020.
