Call to remove new barriers in EAEU market

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – We should dismantle barriers in the market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) that emerge as the cooperation of the five member states intensifies, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said as he took part in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, BelTA learned from TASS.

According to him, consistent efforts to remove barriers in the EAEU market are very important. The union has removed more than 50 barriers and a considerable number of restrictions and exemptions. “However, as the countries continue expanding cooperation, they encounter new barriers that should be eliminated. The appropriate plans for the next two years, for 2021 and 2022, are already in the works,” Mikhail Mishustin said.

Plans are also in place to approve the rules to determine the country of origin of certain types of goods in the EAEU for public procurement purposes. This will help create an environment of fair competition for manufacturers and suppliers from all the member states, Mikhail Mishustin noted.

Moreover, great significance is attached to the establishment of the common services market in the EAEU, including for construction services, the Russian prime minister added. The EAEU has drawn up an action plan to work out common approaches to professional qualifications of such service providers. “These basic rules will be laid down in the agreement on mutual recognition of such qualifications. This matter also concerns labor migration and the interests of businesses and citizens of our countries,” Mikhail Mishustin explained.
