Call on EAEU to unite efforts in developing commodity distribution networks

MOSCOW, 4 December (BelTA) – It is necessary to unite efforts of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union in developing commodity distribution networks, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich said during a video conference of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 4 December, BelTA has learned.

“There were proposals to unite the efforts of the member states of our union in the development of commodity distribution networks. The preliminary study indicates the relevance of this issue for the countries and the union,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

Referring to the data from open sources, the chairman of the EEC Board stated that more than 55 logistics centers are already operating in Belarus. “In fact the development of logistics infrastructure between the EEC and the European Union has been almost completed in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park - a stronghold of the Belt and Road project. Plans are in place to set up 24 wholesale and distribution centers in Kazakhstan. In pursuance of the Russian president's decree cargo multimodal transport and logistics centers will be set up in 12 regions of Russia with a total capacity of more than 50 million tonnes,” he said.

“The commission could work out certain areas of cooperation and complementarity if there is no objection to joint efforts to increase the contribution of logistics to the economy of the EAEU countries, which is half as much as in the European Union today,” added Mikhail Myasnikovich.
