MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – We need to strengthen cooperation in order to remove barriers in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said at the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
The event focused on the elimination of the existing and, most importantly, the prevention of new trade barriers between the countries.
Alesya Abramenko emphasized the need to systematize the reasons for restrictions. “It is important to strengthen our cooperation and to consult with our partners to find out the reasons for the barriers. We should also more actively use advisory opinions of the EAEU Court as a soft law tool,” the deputy minister stressed.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach called on the EAEU member states for the most balanced approach when introducing restrictive measures in mutual trade. “Even if in extraordinary cases it is necessary to introduce a restrictive measure, it is necessary to keep a constant dialogue to explain its meaning and temporary nature, and to discuss how to reduce the negative effect. This is exactly the kind of request we get from business,” he stressed.
