Broad money supply in Belarus up 4.9% in December

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – As of 1 January 2019, broad money supply in Belarus totaled Br43.232 billion, nearly 4.9% up from 1 December, BelTA learned from the official website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB). Broad money supply includes cash in circulation and bank accounts of individuals and corporations.

Cash in circulation (monetary aggregate M0) expanded by 6.4% to Br2.991 billion in December.

The active ruble money supply (monetary aggregate M1), which comprises cash in circulation and transferable deposits in national currency (current account deposits in rubles, demand deposits in rubles, other accounts in rubles) rose 16,1% in December to Br8.615 billion.

As of 1 January, the money supply in national terms (monetary aggregate M2), which comprises the M1 aggregate and other deposits in national currency (fixed-term deposits, escrow deposits) amounted to Br15.994 billion, 10.2% up in December.

The volume of national currency securities issued by banks (outside bank circulation) increased 7.8% in December to Br904.7 million.

The ruble money supply (monetary aggregate M2*), which comprises the M1 aggregate, other deposits in national currency (fixed-term deposits, escrow deposits), money of individuals and corporations in ruble-nominated securities, amounted to Br16.899 billion as of 1 January, 10% up from 1 December.

The volume of foreign currency securities issued by banks (outside banking) went down by 2.6% in December to Br2.080 billion.
