Belkommunmash hybrid trolleybus tested in passenger service in Moscow

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Mosgortrans, an operator of ground urban transport in Moscow, is testing a Belkommunmash trolleybus with a diesel electric engine, the press service of Mosgortrans, BelTA has learned.

Model 43303A designed by Belkommunmash engineers can operate in either electric or diesel modes

“We will be testing the trolleybus on Moscow streets for a couple of days and then will put it into passenger service on one of the existing routes. The trolleybus will be operated in both modes. We hope that the tests will last until the end of the year, and then our specialists will prepare the findings on the feasibility of using such rolling stock on Moscow routes,” Chief Engineer of Mosgortrans Pavel Khmelev said.

The trolleybus can speed up to 60km/h. The body length is over 18 meters. It has 38 seats and can carry 153 passengers. A three-axle, low-floor, articulated trolleybus is accessible to passengers with limited mobility. It is also fitted with satellite navigation and surveillance cameras.
