SOLIGORSK, 29 December (BelTA) - The Belarusian potassium mining company Belaruskali will set records in ore extraction and production of fertilizers in 2020, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media as he visited the company on 29 December, BelTA has informed.
"There are literally a couple of days left until the end of the year, but there is confidence that a record will be set in the production of potassium chloride. Amidst talks that someone has stopped, or is about to stop or even close, this is the most convincing response to such statements,” said Roman Golovchenko.
As for the export contracts for 2021, “there is a normal negotiation process”, the prime minister said.
“So far, there have been no fears that we will experience difficulties. The price issue is hard to predict every year, it depends on so many factors. I think that, as usual, by spring, it will be clear what the price level of next year's contracts with the largest customers will be,” added Roman Golovchenko.
According to Director General of the company Ivan Golovatyi, ore extraction will reach some 55 million tonnes in 2020. This is the amount to produce some 12 million tonnes of fertilizers.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belaruskali is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of potash fertilizers. The company comprises four mine administrations, auxiliary divisions, and support divisions.
