MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian potassium mining and fertilizer manufacturing company Belaruskali will reduce fertilizers production by no more than 30% till the end of 2019, Director General of the company Ivan Golovaty said as he took part in the conference Argus FSU Fertilizer 2019 – Production, Trading and Logistics in the CIS and Baltics States on 5 September, BelTA has learned.
When asked about reducing production volume in the next 3-4 months due to an overhaul, Ivan Golovaty said that this will depend on the situation in the potash market, but the company may cut production by up to 30%.
Ivan Golovaty noted that the company does not have to boost production today. The enterprise works efficiently at the 80% capacity. According to him, stepping up production is necessary to meet peak demand during sowing campaigns in various regions.
BelTA reported earlier that Belaruskali is repairing a hoist of shaft 4 and processing units at Production Unit 3. The company also intends to gradually halt two production lines at Production Unit 4. Plans are in place to overhaul Production Unit 3 in September, Production Unit 4 in October, and Production Unit 2 in late October – early November.
Belaruskali is one of the world's largest manufacturers and exporters of potash fertilizers. The company comprises four production units as well as support units.
