MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ will install 45 units of cutting-edge equipment in 2023. The equipment will be used to make high-tech products, BelAZ representatives told BelTA.

BelAZ is investing heavily in modernization, retooling, and reconstruction of manufacturing lines and the machine-tools stock. In early 2023 the company commissioned a new automated line for galvanic zinc coating. The line will increase processing speed and will increase corrosion resistance of vehicle parts virtually by a third.

Another most important project of the year is the reconstruction of the main assembly line shop with redistribution of manufacturing facilities and sites. Once stage-by-stage reconstruction is over, the shop will make 90-tonne trucks in addition to the haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 30-55 tonnes.

Since the investment project's implementation began, since 2020 BelAZ has commissioned 14 units of high-tech equipment. The investment project provides for spending Br415 million in 2020-2025 on buying and modernizing 140 units of equipment. The superheavy vehicles division will be used to set up facilities to make advanced mining vehicles. Modernization awaits the programmable machine-tools shop, the physical infrastructure of the R&D center named after A.N. Yegorov as well as divisions focusing on painting, instrument-making, stamping, and welding.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
