Belarusian travelling bridge cranes shipped to Amkodor-Onego in Russia's Republic of Karelia

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Amkodor-Onego enterprise based in Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, Russian Federation, has received the first batch of travelling bridge cranes, the press service of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor told BelTA.

Seven travelling bridge cranes with the lifting capacity varying from 3.2 tonnes to 16 tonnes were delivered to OOO Amkodor-Onego. Another batch will be shipped by the end of April. The equipment is required for implementing an investment project to create a high-technology import-substituting enterprise to make medium and heavy timber harvesters and forwarders at premises of the former Onega tractor factory.

The travelling bridge cranes were made by UP Amkodor-DOMZ. Based in Dzerzhinsk, Minsk Oblast, the enterprise is part of the holding company Amkodor. The enterprise specializes in making lifting equipment, industrial lifting tackle, and some models of wheeled special-purpose vehicles. The cranes made for Amkodor-Onego is a new generation of cranes. They are controlled by radio by an operator standing on the floor and offer high safety standards to the personnel. They will be installed and tuned soon.

Economic Development and Industry Minister of the Republic of Karelia Oleg Yermolayev visited OOO Amkodor-Onego the day before. He was made familiar with the coronavirus-related precautions at the enterprise. It was noted that the enterprise uses hand sanitizers and protective masks, office premises and manufacturing premises are sprayed with disinfectants, some of the personnel now work from home.

Oleg Yermolayev stressed that the government assigns a high priority to the investment project to set up an enterprise to make timber harvesters in Karelia. The Belarusian contribution to investments in modernizing the enterprise is expected to be RUB500 million.

At present the enterprise assembles the forwarders Amkodor 2662-01 and Amkodor 2682-01 as well as the harvesters Amkodor 2561 and Amkodor 2561-01. The machines are certified as products of Russian make. It allows the enterprise to enjoy the incentives the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry offers to buyers of such products.

In 2020 Amkodor-Onego intends to make 60 forestry vehicles, which will be sold in Russian regions. The enterprise is expected to reach the full designed output capacity of 540 vehicles per annum in 2030.
