Belarusian toy factory opens in Turkey

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – A factory of the joint Turkish-Belarusian Polesie TR plastic toy company was officially launched in the Turkish city of Sinop on 19 January, the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey told BelTA.

The new facility occupies the area of 16,000 m2. Modern equipment installed in the factory was launched at the end of October 2019. The facility features the assembly production, warehouses for semi-finished and ready-made products. The first batch of toys has already been certified and shipped to customers in the middle of December. Employing 157 professionals, the factory has reached the designed capacity.

The official launch ceremony was attended by local authorities, Turkish deputy ministers of trade and internal affairs, members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Belarusian ambassador, a representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Turkey, the co-founders of the company on the Turkish side, top executives of the Belarusian plastic toy company PP Polesie and numerous guests.

Ambassador Viktor Rybak emphasized that the opening of this joint company is the first milestone investment project following the talks between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara in April 2019.

The company plans to expand the line-up and presence on foreign markets, especially in the countries of South Europe, the Middle East and Africa. At the moment, the toys under the Polesie trademark are present on the markets of 68 countries. Meanwhile, the new factory will allow the Belarusian manufacturer to export its products to the countries where it previously faced some serious logistics issues.
