Belarusian technoparks ramp up output six times in 2015-2020

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Resident companies of the Belarusian technoparks have increased output six times for the past five years, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Aleksandr Shumilin said at the outcome meeting of the committee, BelTA has learned.

"To promote innovative entrepreneurship, we have focused our efforts on the accelerated development of innovative infrastructure. Today, this network covers all regional centers, and also Novopolotsk, Pinsk, Gorky, Borisov District and Lyakhovichi District and includes 17 technoparks, 7 technology transfer centers and the Belarusian Innovation Fund. The technoparks ramped up the output six-fold: from Br33.7 million in 2015 to Br197.6 million in 2020," said Aleksandr Shumilin.

He also noted that the number of subjects of innovative infrastructure has grown by 1.9 times in the past five years. During this period the number of resident companies of the Belarusian technoparks surged 2.2 times, and the total number of their employees - 2.7 times. In 2016-2020, 2,566 jobs were created in the technoparks, well above the target of 1,536.

“The government's efforts to accelerate the development of innovative infrastructure helped the technoparks to be almost on par with the Belarusian HTP resident companies in terms of the innovative production growth,” Aleksandr Shumilin said.
