Belarusian Potash Company might discuss new contract with India in September

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Potash Company might embark on talks on a new contract with India in September, Director General of the company Yelena Kudryavets told reporters at the international conference "Argus. Mineral Fertilizers 2019. Production, Trade and Logistics in the CIS and Baltic States" on 5 September in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“The negotiations with China have not started yet and we are waiting to embark on talks with India,” Yelena Kudryavets said. Speaking about the date for launching talks with India, she noted: “I think this might happen this month.” China has not put forward any proposals regarding the talks yet.

When asked about contract prices, she said that Belarusian Potash Company signed lucrative contracts with Bangladesh and India; the company managed to increase H2 2019 prices for Japan. “We count on balanced talks. I hope that we will come to terms with our customers taking into account market trends, supply and demand,” she said. “Prices are always a matter of negotiations. They depend on how negotiations proceed, on their timing and the parties' negotiating positions. We are very positive about the talks,” she added.

In January-August 2019, Belarusian Potash Company' exports surged to a record high of about 7.4 million tonnes of products. A new record can be set in September. After that the amount of exports will depend on the market situation and contract talks with India and China.

Belarusian Potash Company is one of the world's largest exporters of potassium. In 2018 the company's share in the global export of potash fertilizers totaled 20.5%. The company exported merchandise to nearly 130 countries.
