Belarusian light industry concern's export to EU up 10% in H1

MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – In H1 2019, the export to the EU of the enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom rose to $36.1 million, up 10% over the same period last year, Deputy Chairman of the concern Vladislav Zaitsev said at a meeting of the board, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladislav Zaitsev, the concern worked to explore new sales markets, since the demand on the traditional markets of the EAEU, in particular in Russia, shrank. The new markets enabled the concern to partially compensate for the loss of export volumes.

All in all, 53.6% of the output (or $237 million) was sold abroad. The concern shipped its products to 54 countries of the world. The foreign trade surplus amounted to $64 million.

"In H1 2019, the concern increased deliveries to Israel, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Canada, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the USA, Estonia, and Japan," Vladislav Zaitsev said.

According to experts, the global light industry market is likely to grow 4.25% annually in the current and subsequent years.
