Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom seeks to step up cooperation with UK

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom is interested in expanding cooperation with the UK, Bellegprom's press service told BelTA following a meeting between Bellegprom's top executives and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and concurrently to Ireland Maksim Yermolovich who begins his diplomatic mission in.

The parties discussed topical issues of interaction between Bellegprom's enterprises and European partners, including those from the UK.

Vitaly Detinets, the first deputy head of Bellegprom, stressed that Belarusian sewing and knitting companies are interested in attracting give-and-take orders from British companies. Export of table and home textiles, leather goods to the UK seems promising.

Ambassador Maksim Yermolovich, for his part, noted that it is crucial for Belarusian companies to integrate into the trade and production chains of British companies, which would allow stepping up interaction between partners in the light industry.

The participants of the meeting agreed to work out measures to expand cooperation between the two countries in light industry.

The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom is an umbrella company for 96 organizations, including 76 manufacturing enterprises specializing in textiles, garments, knitwear, leather and footwear. The companies affiliated with the concern manufacture 60% of all light industry products and 21% of non-food products made in Belarus.
