MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The major Belarusian construction materials manufacturer OAO Krichevtsementnoshifer exported $4.267 million worth of merchandise in Q1 2020, 40.5% up from the same period of last year, BelTA learned from the company's Director General Vladimir Korchevsky.

In Q1 2020 Krichevtsementnoshifer increased the output by 21.9% in current manufacturer's prices to nearly Br37.5 million. The company shipped over 302,000 tonnes of cement to customers in this period. The cement sales growth rate totaled 122.3% as against the same period of last year. The stock in storage amounted to 43.7% of the average monthly output. The figure stood at 61% in January-March 2019. Fixed-capital investments amounted to Br614,000 in Q1 2020. The company managed to hit its energy-saving target (minus 2). Materials consumption dropped by 12.7%, which confirms that the company uses material resources effectively. Proceeds from sales amounted to Br41.3 million in the period.

In January-March 2020 the company operated at 78.2% of its capacity. It is one of the most important indicators to describe the company's performance and to allow evaluating the effectiveness of the technologies the company uses. It also allows detecting problems with the smart operation of the available hardware.

In January-March 2020 the company intended to increase profits by Br598,000 but the actual increase was as high as Br3.9 million. Profitability of sales increased as well. Profits per employee indicate how effectively and profitably the company operates. Earnings per employee reached Br48,700, with the growth rate at 139.8%. Keeping labor productivity growth ahead of the growth of salaries is an important condition in an effective business, Vladimir Korchevsky noted. The ratio of the labor productivity growth rate against the growth of salaries was 1.19% in Q1 2020, which allows the company to further increase the size of salaries. In January-March 2020 salaries at Krichevtsementnoshifer averaged Br1,042.5 (117.7% as against January-March 2019). The average salary was Br1,262.4 in March.

The director general said: “The company operates steadily. We've started planned repairs but before that we stocked up on clinker bricks, which are needed to produce cement. This is why the temporary suspension of clinker brick production has not affected merchandise sales in any way. We steadily ship up to 5,000 tonnes of cement to customers daily. In April we would ship up to 6,000 tonnes daily. Taxes have been paid, salaries have been paid on time and in full. The people are busy working, there are no serious problems. We can conclude that despite the current difficulties caused by the spread of the coronavirus infection the demand for our products has not dwindled.”

The company's branches also demonstrated positive output development figures, including the branches located in Baranovichi, Vitebsk, Molodechno, Novopolotsk, and Rogachev. The contribution of the branches to the company's total proceeds amounted to 32.6%. Their industrial output totaled Br17 million in Q1 2020, 27% up from the same period of last year. Three branches out of five ones were profitable. All the branches are expected to secure profitable operation in H1 2020.

Vladimir Korchevsky also said that the company grows and commissions new facilities all the time. The company finished reconstructing an elevated track in early April 2020. The work began in June 2019 and most of the work was finished in March 2020. Now the loose cargoes the company receives such as coal and peat bricks can no longer be mixed. The engineering and technological solutions will reduce the time trains stand idle due to cargo handling operations. A correct strategy, rational use of materials, and smart decisions made by the company's engineering department helped reconstruct the elevated track and save considerable amounts of money.

A bridge crane has been erected to unload piece materials and the firewood the company's boiler house needs. It will reduce unloading costs. The company will no longer have to outsource unloading operations, the executive explained.
