Belarusian Industry Ministry keen to increase export of subordinate enterprises to Russia's Far East

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Enterprises run by the Industry Ministry may increase their export to Russia's Far East by 1.5 times, BelTA learned from Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to pay a working visit to Russia's Far East on 12-13 April. Piotr Parkhomchik is part of the Belarusian delegation. When asked what he intends to accomplish, Piotr Parkhomchik said: “To raise our export component by at least 1.5 times in comparison with 2021.”

According to Piotr Parkhomchik, Belarus and Russia's Far East maintain good relations. Oleg Kozhemyako, who was a governor of Amur Oblast and Sakhalin Oblast and is the current governor of Primorye Territory, contributed a lot to the development of these relations. “We've always had very warm, friendly relations. These relations have always produced very good, positive results,” the Belarusian industry minister stressed.

Piotr Parkhomchik reminded that a Belarusian delegation visited Primorye Territory in 2020. Agreements in the area of manufacturing sector and agriculture were reached. “It is very important that all the obligations have been fulfilled. Results of 2021 confirmed it: export of Belarusian mechanical engineering products to Russia's Primorye Territory virtually doubled. The exports included agricultural machinery goods (tractors, attachments, harvesters), MAZ vehicles, lifts. Primorye Territory may be far but even products of a Belarusian steel mill sold in this region,” the industry minister said.

In his words, sales of lift equipment look promising. The Belarusian side handed over all the design documents and technological documents to the Russian side and have trained their specialists. Selling assembly kits to the Russian region is the idea. The kits can be used for repairs and for selling new lifts in the region.

In order to demonstrate its capabilities Belarus intends to build a permanent site within two years for the sake of showcasing a broad range of products made by domestic industrial enterprises.
