MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Creating a favorable business environment will be a high priority in the economic policy of the government. Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas made the statement during the opening ceremony of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEF Belarus) on 12 November, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Rumas said: “In practical sense the state has taken serious steps to support the private sector. A liberalization package has been in effect for nearly one year. Concrete results have already been achieved: the number of new small and medium private companies grows larger, the notification-based procedure for starting a business is now operational. The government has passed a new action program for the period till 2020. It stipulates the creation of a favorable business environment as the main priority of the economic policy.”
A strategy to develop small and medium private companies till 2030 has been passed recently. It shaped a new agenda for the state regulation of this branch of the national economy. The document represents the result of close collaboration between the private sector and the government. It stipulates provisions, which implementation will give an additional impulse for reaching a brand new level of development of small and medium enterprises. Updating the government program on small and medium private companies will be the next step.
The prime minister stressed: “It is obvious that the emerging transparent, predictable, and advantageous legislation, which rules out the adoption of excessive encumbrances and new barriers, will become a guarantee of stable work on our market for private companies.”
Sergei Rumas stated that the interest in the Global Entrepreneurship Week is on the rise, the number of participants grows larger every year. The Belarusian government views the fact as a token of trust in the government policy on liberalizing business regulations, emancipating the business initiative, and enabling favorable conditions for implementing business ideas. “The government views this international project as an important venue for the authorities and the business community to have a civilized dialogue about problems and prospects of development of the Belarusian economy,” he said.
The head of government also thanked all the entrepreneurs. “In today's reality you promptly respond to challenges and demands of the market, generate new ideas and implement them, thus making a significant contribution to supporting the stability of the Belarusian economy and creating prerequisites for its confident growth,” he said.
Sergei Rumas also visited an exhibition of innovative projects in the expo center BelExpo.
The Global Entrepreneurship Week is an annual global event aimed at finding new entrepreneurship ideas. The event takes place in 170 countries. This event has been held in Belarus since 2011. GEW Belarus is scheduled to take place in the expo center BelExpo on 12-18 November.
