Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week officially open

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The fifth Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week is running on 24 February-1 March, Vladimir Karyagin, Chairman of the Supreme Coordinating Council of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurship, said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.

“The fifth Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week is officially open. This event is the result of the public initiative, not foreign grants. It is the meeting of business and authorities. Entrepreneurs will visit educational institutions to make speeches,” Vladimir Karyagin said. According to Vladimir Karyagin, there will be more than 100 events in Minsk. Business promotion events will be held in all regions of the country.

Each business association has contributed to the event, Vladimir Karyagin noted. For example, the week will feature the forum on intellectual property. The Development Center of Rural Entrepreneurship Komarovo in Minsk will organize a forum on the experience and development of entrepreneurship in rural areas. “Partners from Russia and Europe will join us too. Several Chinese organizations postponed their arrival because of the coronavirus outbreak,” Vladimir Karyagin added.

Irina Babachenok, Director of the Entrepreneurship Department of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, noted that the development of small and medium-sized business is one of the major priorities of the state policy. “The government has been working to promote business and enhance the attractiveness of the Belarusian jurisdiction for entrepreneurship. It is one of our strategic directions,” Irina Babachenok highlighted. Small and medium-sized business entities paid more than Br9 billion in taxes and fees to the budget in 2019 (up by 7% over 2018).

The forum is held by the National Confederation of Entrepreneurship supported by the Economy Ministry, the Entrepreneurship Department of the Economy Ministry, the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support to Entrepreneurs and regional business associations.

The program includes seminars, conferences, speeches from top managers and business leaders, meetings of business people and government officials, meetings of entrepreneurship development councils, panel discussions and roundtable meetings to discuss issues and priorities of entrepreneurship development in Belarus. The results of the Business Confidence Index survey 2020 are expected to be presented during the Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week.

One of the most important events is the 2nd national business forum “Entrepreneurship in Belarus: Strategy and tactics”. It will be hosted by the National Library on 26 February.

The Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week was first held in 2016.
